Exactly one year after she said “I do” with her husband Chandler Powell, Bindi Irwin became a mama. The proud new parents welcomed their little girl on March 25, 2021. And her name is a sweet nod to her grandpa, the late Steve Irwin.

On March 26, Bindi announced on Instagram that she and Chandler welcomed their first child together, a little girl named Grace Warrior Irwin Powell. Born at 5:52pm the day before, weighing 7 lbs., 7 oz., and measured 20 inches long. She arrived exactly on the couple’s first wedding anniversary.

“Celebrating the two loves of my life. Happy first wedding anniversary to my sweetheart husband and day of birth to our beautiful daughter,” Bindi wrote, sharing a photo of the three of them.

“There are no words to describe the infinite amount of love in our hearts for our sweet baby girl. She chose the perfect day to be born, and we feel tremendously blessed,” she added.

The name was chosen very thoughtfully, and Bindi explained each name choice in her birth announcement. “Grace is named after my great-grandmother, and relatives in Chandler’s family dating back to the 1700s,” she wrote. Adding, “Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior. Her last name is Powell, and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad.”

Teri, Bindi’s mom, took to Twitter to share the announcement of becoming a grandma and said Steve would be very proud as well. “Love is not a big enough word. My heart is so incredibly happy,” she wrote. Adding, “And I know that Steve would be beyond proud. Grace is the next generation to continue his mission and message of conservation. She chose her parents wisely. Bindi and Chandler are already the best parents ever!”

Congratulations to the beautiful family!
