Kid’s Diary About COVID Homeschooling Goes Viral: “It’s Not Going Good”
Ben is very honest.
Parents everywhere are stressed out as they try and manage to work from home, homeschooling their kids who are always under their feet, and not being able to lose the house. There’s likely never been a time where parents appreciated more the ability to send their kids safely to school. Now that many are homeschooling with little to no warning or time to prepare, it’s not going so smoothly for everyone. For one mom, the stress has gotten to her, at least according to her kid.
Candice Hunter Kennedy from Verona, Kentucky, is homeschooling her 8-year-old son Ben. As part of his homeschooling, Candice asks him to write a small entry into a journal. On the first day of homeschool, Ben’s entry into his journal was particularly fitting, and when Candice shared it on Facebook, it went viral quickly.
“Y’all I’m dying!!!” the mom writes while sharing a photo of Ben’s writing. “This is Ben’s journal entry from Monday about our first ‘homed school’ day. That last sentence.”
So, what did Ben write? “It is not going good. My mom’s getting stressed out. My mom is really getting confused. We took a break so my mom can figure this stuff out. I’m telling you it is not going good.”
Since the post was shared on March 19th it has been shared 300,000 times, with 15,000 comments all empathizing with Candice’s stressful situation. And Ben’s honesty.
At least we’re not alone in all this.
